Recommended gifts for your partner in 30 seconds Expert advice Top tips on how to present the gift
How to present a gift!
Presentation is an important part of gift giving, so we’ve made this handy guide so you can make the most of the moment.
Wrapping
The presentation of a gift sets the tone and can add significant value to the gift itself. The better the presentation, the better the gift. Some tips for achieving this are:
- Quality paper – avoid using old Christmas wrapping paper or the classic tin foil approach! High quality wrapping paper not only adds to the overall gift experience, it is easier to wrap with and well worth paying a little extra for
- Disguise – keep small/medium boxes from other deliveries. Boxes are the best shape for good wrapping and prolong the gift experience by having a gift inside a wrapped box. Especially good for awkward or easily identified shapes
- Sellotape hides a multitude of sins – tidy any paper fold gaps or overlaps of paper by simply taping them down
- Ribbon – it may seem like an effort, but a gift presentation can be greatly enhanced with a simple two-minute ribbon. Well worth 2 minutes of your life!

Giving to a partner
Giving the gift
The setting and ambience of gifts giving greatly enhances the whole experience. Make this an experience she will never forget. Some tips you may wish to consider are:
- Candlelight – light a couple of candles and dim the lights to create a romantic setting
- Fizz – a nice glass of chilled Prosecco will demonstrate how thoughtful you are and will win you massive “Partner Points”
- Time – life is hectic. Try and set aside 30 minutes for just the two of you (especially if you have children). This will make the whole gift giving experience feel even more special, for both of you
Importance of the gift card message
Not all of you will be comfortable with this, but if you want to push the romantic boat out, these will help.
Women read the words; they really count. This might seem corny to you, but they genuinely can add value to the overall experience.
- “A gift for my gift” – clever and romantic
- “I love you (name)” – simple tearjerker, personalised to add meaning
- “You complete me” – Jerry Maguire classic
- “You are the light of my life” – do not use if you have bought her a lamp
- “Words are not enough to express my love for you” – great introduction to a great gift.
- “Eternity would still not leave enough time for me to tell you how much I love you” – perfect for anniversaries
